Dr. Richard Bowers is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 35 years experience providing psychotherapy and psychological testing to children, adolescents and adults.  He enjoys helping individuals with many types of difficulties, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, anger, family problems and job-related stress.  He likes to help the parents of unruly children restore peace in their homes.  Along with his clinical practice, Dr. Bowers has served in numerous leadership positions in  professional and community organizations, including president of the Virginia Psychological Association, president of the Virginia Academy of School Psychology, president of the Virginia Psychological Foundation, and former treasurer of the Virginia Psychological Association and the Iowa School Psychology Association.  Dr. Bowers is a member in good standing with the American Psychological Association, the Virginia Academy of Clinical Psychology and the Richmond Academy of Clinical Psychologists. As a former special education and school psychology administrator, Dr. Bowers often consults in matters relating to learning problems, school behavior problems, special education eligibility, 504 eligibility, IEP’s and Independent Educational Evaluations (IEE).  He has enjoyed teaching many courses in psychology and statistics at the graduate and undergraduate level.
