Valerie Stolcis is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of experience treating individuals with mental health and substance use issues. She works primarily with adults, as well as with older adolescents.  Valerie strives to connect with clients, not only by serving as a witness to their past and present challenges, but also by encouraging their resilience and strengths. She believes that it’s possible for everyone, with the right kind of support, to develop better coping strategies to improve their quality of life. Valerie completed training as a yoga instructor in 2003 and has taught yoga to individuals in a variety of settings. Her client-centered approach to treatment combines elements of motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy with mindfulness interventions.  Areas of clinical interest include  anxiety and depression,  grief, substance use, adjustment to new phases of life, communication issues, spirituality, and the mind-body connection.
